The Most Horrific

The play 'The Most Horrific' is a collection of the most horrific events that has taken place within society that a lot of people turn a blind eye on. like .....

Gay rights, asylum seekers, suicide, pedophilia and other controversial subjects.



The format of the play is very interesting, nobody has names accept for letters A-D because they are just representations of certain stereotypes. The only names mentioned in the play are factual ones like obama and the Ugandan lesbian because only important information is mentioned in the play, this is because the play is political and the writer's intentions were for the audience to learn about some of the situations and take into light whats going on around us.

A and B are a reflection of ignorant individuals who are unaware of anything taking place accept for things that are self indulgent or funny. C is the representation of the media and how they truly just dump us down by filling and bombarding us with material products, celebrities and lustful desires. We can access anything through our technology now a days but to what extent do we use it for anything truly useful or intellectual other than social chat rooms and shopping websites. D is like a factual source that tells us about the most horrific events and finally the narrator come across to me like an observer of everything.


It's as if people hear things and then just get on with their lives and not think about it again, which a lot of people fall victim to because we as individuals believe that we cant do anything by ourselves we have no voice to change anything or make a difference. If something isn't happening in front of you or physically involves you its so easy for you to switch off the TV if you don't like what your hearing and disconnect yourself form social problems and affairs. This is why i love the fact that were performing it in Brechtian style because were becoming informers instead of becoming a character. We want our audience to be engaged and aware of the horrific situations, instead of seeing our work and then not truly understand it.




MY SCENE 

B: What about the other stuff? (b is very clueless)

A: The most most horrific?

B: Yeah

A: Google it (rudely)

B: What, is that what you did?

A: No, i told you i heard it on radio 4. they did a special program on it. His rise and fall. It was brilliant. I mean revolting. It was revolting. (ditzy) 

B: What, tell me

A: No i dont even want to think about it. just make ( strudels shoulders)

(doesn't want to acknowledge the program because how it made her feel)

B: I've got reception, tell me
